UEC’s Second Case Competition of the 2025–2026 academic year challenges students to apply economic theory and real world data tools to modern financial problems. As traditional financial institutions face declining engagement from younger generations, teams will develop data driven strategies to help firms and policymakers such as the Bank of Canada adapt to changing transaction and payment behaviors.
The competition features two divisions, Beginner and Advanced, to accommodate varying experience levels, with all teams receiving access to training sessions and resources. The case includes a dataset which advanced teams are required to use and beginner teams are encouraged to explore, alongside an optional R training session designed to build practical analytical skills. Teams will prepare and present solutions to panels of judges, incorporate feedback, and refine their final presentations.

We Grow Career Bootcamp
In collaboration with WomEconomics, the UEC brings about a bootcamp designed to give insights into how to strategically search for opportunities and position yourself competitively in today's labour market. Accomplished women from academia and industry share their experiences, career paths, and insights into the field of economics. Through meaningful discussion and networking, the event aims to inspire students, promote gender equity, and encourage greater female participation in economics.

Activities within the workshop include live resume reviews by HR professionals, interview preparation, and technical training on Excel and data tools. Additionally, there will be a career panel with HR and industry experts, as well as networking opportunities. This event is open to all undergraduate students.
